21 Feb Terms: Battement jeté
This is a classic ballet term and means “throw”. The leg goes up into the air at a 30-degree angle. This can be forward, sideways or backward. The battement jeté is an important foundation for many jumps and trains the legs to go in the air in a fast, stretched and controlled way in one movement. It is an excellent way to develop control over your movement and train your legs, as you have to consciously control each ‘throw’. Unlike the battement tendu, this exercise is done in the air and with much sharper.
